France win FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series, Hangzhou Final 2024.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2024
HANGZHOU (China) - France win their second Women’s Series title as they defeat the Netherlands 15 - 12 to win the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Hangzhou Final 2024 on September 8.
The French were incisive all tournament, bouncing back from a pool play loss to the Dutch to go on a winning streak. They dispatched off Italy in the semis to book their spot in the finals, a rematch against the Netherlands.
A heated battle from the start, both teams traded buckets early with Marie Mane and Janis Ndiba both opening scoring for their sides with twos. The gritty defensive battle kept scores at bay in the intense final but it was France who pulled ahead first thanks to big twos from Marie-Eve Paget and Anna Ngo Ndjock.
Scores 10 - 5 with just under 4 minutes to go, the Dutch attempted to battle back through physicality, but France’s quickness and precision seemed to be the difference maker. Mane’s defense stifled the Netherlands while Hortense Limouzin ran the show through buckets in the paint and crucial dimes.
The French flurry in the latter half of the game would prove to be too much to overcome for the Dutch as France would come away as 15 - 12 victors to earn their second Women’s Series title in history.
Marie Mane was doing it all for her side, bringing in clutch plays on all fronts. She led her side in scoring with 30 points while also providing crucial dimes. Her offensive game worked in tandem with her huge contributions on the defensive end as she was the key to France’s success. Her efforts earned her MVP plaudits.
